This New Plymouth foreshore installation consisted of 18 ribs, a jawbone arch and a scapula bone swing, oriented so the sun set directly behind Len Lye’s wind wand. A dancing kelp garden was driven by wave machines linked to a soundtrack, paving was in the Tarataraaki pattern traditionally associated with this legend and planting used only species that grow on our offshore islands. The bones are now permanently installed in Patea, South Taranaki.
